In the K4000M, 5 blocks are active leading to the 960 CUDA cores. The GK104 Kepler core offers eight shader blocks, called SMX, that are clocked at the same speed as the central core. The Kepler architecture is the successor to the Fermi architecture that first appeared in laptops with the GeForce 400M series. OpenGL performance, for example, should be significantly better than GeForce graphics cards of similar specifications. The Quadro series offers certified drivers that are optimized for stability and performance in professional applications like CAD or DCC. The Quadro K4000M is built for the Intel Chief River generation (Ivy Bridge) and is the successor to the Fermi-based Quadro 4000M (Huron River platform). May that be the reason? ![]() Is the CUDA settings in the nVidia software? I don't see a Mercury Playback Engine option as before. In my preferences settings - memory, I can select Performance or Memory for "Optimize rendering for". That's fine - that's why I installed the nVidia Quadro K4000. However, I was informed that nVidia no longer supports those cards so they won't be compatible with newest version of Premiere. Note that 2 months ago, my nVidia Quadro 6000 with the previous version of Premiere worked perfectly with a yellow bar even with effects added. Nonetheless, I'm still getting a red render bar at the top of the timeline even with my regular raw footage from Sony HXR-NX5U in AVCHD format and HD MP4 formats from my Canon XC10. C drive, Cache drive and Media drives are all SSDs. I also installed the latest nVidia software (411.95-quadro-desktop-notebook-win10-64bit-international-whql). I just installed a nVidia Quadro K4000 (included on list of recommended video adapters for GPU acceleration) on my Dell Workstation 7910 running Windows 10 Pro with 64GB memory and dual (2) 8 core processors Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2630 v3 GHz. ![]()
